A Critique of ‘Justice for Palestine and Israel’

by Richard on May 25, 2011

I’m grateful to Ray Gaston for pointing out Old Habits Die Hard: A Critique of Recent Christian Statements on Israel (pdf), a lecture given by Amy-Jill Levine of Vanderbilt University. I’ve only galloped through it, but I think it will repay close attention.

Thanks so much for posting this, she’s just great.

Here’s a couple of videos of how she got into New Testament studies:

Annoyingly, I missed this, despite living just across the courtyard from the Woolf Institute :( I shall certainly be paying more attention in future to the seminar and lecture lists that they publish :)

Thank you for highlighting this document. Do you know if any of the discussions were noted/recorded? It makes a hard read as it is a script so I think some more subtle things to hear that may not leap off the page could be heard from discussion…

John, I can try and find time (am in the middle of exams currently so mind elsewhere) to speak to Dr Ed Kessler, the Executive Director of the Woolf Institute, and ask if there are any notes that are publicly available. I’m not sure that there will be but may be worth asking.

If you’re able to find anything, that would be great Mr Nomad.
