by Richard on December 22, 2011

I’m not the only one re-blogging. Rachel Barenblat points us to one of her old posts, a very useful look at the various meanings of Chanukah.

She forgot one: celebrations with the family of Jonny Howard, my best pre-teen friend, who lived across the street (LaRue Drive, Huntington, New York):

I have a little dreidel, I made it out of clay,
And when it’s dry and ready, then dreidel I shall play.
O dreidel, dreidel, dreidel, I made it out of clay,
And when it’s dry and ready, then dreidel I shall play!

I remember it as if it were yesterday. Bless you, Jonny, wherever you are.
