‘So things can change, suddenly and unexpectedly. Keeping that in mind, we also need to confront the metaphysical (and ethical) challenge before us. We need to exercise our imaginations to develop a new paradigm, a new way of thinking about and viewing reality. We face so great a crisis that it can only be solved by opening ourselves up to completely new ways of perceiving reality.
Despite the overwhelming odds that we face, we need to hang on tightly to hope. Hope is at the core of Christian faith, and as St Paul says, ‘hope does not disappoint us’ (Romans 5:5). My trust is in a Creator God who will not abandon the world, which is product of divine creativity. If God ’so loved the world that he gave his only Son…in order that the world might be saved through him’ (John 3:16-17), my hope is that we won’t have to do it on our own, God will save the world, and the whole process is in the hands of the Creator.’
