The Good Doctor

by Richard on April 26, 2006

I haven’t said yet how much I’m enjoying the new series of Doctor Who. It is, in my opinion, thoroughly splendid. Only 2 stories in, David Tennant has got a really grip on the role and is making it his own. Great stuff!

But Mr Tennant has distinguished himself further by donating his copy of the script of the first episode of the new series to a church booksale to raise money for Christian Aid. Apparently his dad used to be minister of the church, St Andrew’s and St George’s, Edinburgh. I just wish I was in a position to put a bid in.

What a nice man.

The BBC has more…

Woe, woe, we’re in Canada, and the CBC is showing hockey instead of the new series of Doctor Who….!!!

Could that be because Canadians are simply unworthy? Seems like a good bet to me…

Hey watch it Beth! I’m Canadian too and we are worthy enough to watch Dr. Who. As a matter of fact it was a Canadian who pitched the idea as a way to teach history. Sidney Newman was a Canuck. So you owe us!

Nah, that’s just pro-Canadian propaganda. Newman was, in fact, a Martian suffering from homesickness, which is why he came up with a sci-fi idea. QED.

Well Martians and Canadians do have a lot in common. Their planet is red and white, so is our flag. We have a cold climate so do they. No wonder why we mistook Newman to be a Canadian instead of a Martian.
