Street knitting

by Richard on July 28, 2006

Who’d have thought it? Apparently, knitting has gone “urban” with a new craze for graffiti knitting.

…Knitta - a gangsta crew who “tag” public monuments and objects, just like graffiti artists, except for one difference: they do it with knitting.

…the Knitta taggers are wrapping trees, street lights, car antennas and door knobs in knitted coverings. The crew remain anonymous, adopting rapper-style names like The Knotorious N.I.T. and P-Knitty.

I don’t know. The young people of today. What was wrong with knitting your mum a nice cardi?!

Treehugger has more.

You raise a good point. Are you an actual ’street knitter’?
