Ultimate Swansea

by Richard on August 27, 2006

One of the things that I have to rediscover every summer is just how much fun you can have with a Frisbee® (or other brand of flying disc, of which there are many). I can happily ignore my little collection of such things in the winter, but come summer I’m soon pestering my children (and even my long-suffering wife) for a throw-about in the local park. I can’t say what the attraction is. It isn’t as if I have any particular skill with the thing. It’s just good fun.

I’ve been intrigued by the game of Ultimate for some while, but I’ve never come across it in real life only on the internet. There are some videos on YouTube, but I’d like to have a go at playing for real even knowing that I probably wouldn’t be any great shakes at it. It looks like huge fun. Hence this post: if you’re in or near Swansea and you’d like to give Ultimate a try, give me a yell and we’ll see what can be done. There must be someone else here who wants to have a go.

Hi Richard
I have played some Ultimate frisbee in London and Australia and have just returned to Swansea. It is a lot of fun and a good way to keep fit.
Let me know if you have found anyone else to play with or are still keen.
There might be a possibility of playing at the university. I am an ex student and they have had a team at some point in the past (not sure if they have one now) and there may be some more people keen to play. I will let you know if I come up with anything.

Yours is the first response, Phil and I’m guessing that you’d be alot more competent at the game than I would. But I would like to give it a go, especially with folk who’d go easy on an old guy!

OK, will let you know if I can find some more people. 7 a side is the ‘official’ numbers but a lot of fun can be had with anything over 3/4 a side. Don’t worry I am very laid back when it comes to frisbee - it is just a lot more fun than going to the gym or for a run.
