Two more arrogant know-it-alls. White, male, middle-class, American, know it alls thinking that they have the answer to why the church is screwed up and that cheap little videos with paragraphs below will solve everything. I’ve run into their kind before and I was one myself. 3 years of seminary and discernment have changed that, well maybe not the arrogant part, or the white, middle-class, male Canadian nature.
But seriously my profs would chew them up and spit ‘em out.

Well, I thought it was funny.

Sorry Richard. I didn’t mean to hurt your feelings. The doughnuts one was funny, but the rhetoric is tiresome because I received that kind of criticism in my home church and I feel it neglects 2000 years of a rich Christian heritage and Scripture.
Blessings and if you ever make it to Canada I’ll buy you a doughnut at Tim Horton’s.

My feelings aren’t hurt, Eugene — I’ve got much thicker skn than that! The videos all made me laugh because they were so close to the truth. Did you watch the worship one? Priceless! All you need is a guitar and a worship leader…
Made me laugh out loud! I think you’re being a bit hard on them, but that’s OK.

I’m with you Richard. They hit the mark. Worship and Attendance especially!
I sure hope some contrary angel isn’t keeping track of all the crap God has to put up with from those of us who are called by his name.
Maybe that’s what purgatory really is… composting all the christian crap we’ve been responsible for??

I suppose I found it funny because that is pretty much my experience of church these days.

I did the see the worship one and it is true that our worship has become hokey because all one needs is a guitar and a singer. But I don’t like how they think going to pubs is worship or simply gathering together is attendance. I also resent that they think the wearing of the collar and gown is elitist when it is in actuality slave clothes. And once again the criticism comes from two white middle class American males who have no right to complain and whine. If it is anyone who should be complaining it is the marginalised in our churches or the persecuted churches, or the marginalised in the other parts of the world, not a pair of suburban spoiled brats.

But the fact that they’re middle-class white boys satirising middle-class white boys is why it’s funny - it’s legitimate self-satire.

Fair enough Wood.
