Tempus fugit

by Richard on July 21, 2004

Time has been on my mind today too. Specifically, where does it go to? It is the last day of pre-school nursery for my youngest daughter, the last day of infant school for my eldest. These are important milestones for them both, waymarkers on the road that is “growing up”. I can’t help feeling a certain amount of introspection. Earlier today I found myself singing a hymn - the words came unbidden:

‘Tis Jesus the first and the last
Whose Spirit shall guide us safe home
We will praise him for all that is past
And trust him for all that’s to come

On a different, and much more frivolous note, I’m reminded of the proverb favoured by one of my old schoolmates: “Always remember — Time flies like an arrow. And fruit flies like a banana.”

how are you throwing the banana?? Cause if you throw it straight, like a dart, it can fly quite straight, whereas if you just throw it it’ll spin round like a boomerang….. though without the coming back, unless it is thrown straight up…. Then it’ll come back!!!

You must never throw bananas Malc. It is a very bad thing to do. Remember that at home kids.
