It has been quite a day. I preached in Jeffersontown UMC this morning and was received very warmly — the pastor allowed me to preach at the second service having heard me at the first, so it can’t have been too bad! There was a real welcome and sense of fellowship in that place. It was good to be reminded that the church has a universality which crosses boundaries of culture and nation. I think we forget that sometimes.
I’m feeling more than a little emotionaln as this will be our last night with our friends in Louisville and we’re wishing we had more time to linger here. I hope we have the opportunity to pass this way again. But of course we’re looking forward to the next stage of our journey to catch up with an old friend in South Carolina. Spartangurg here we come!
