Methodist bloggers get-together (2)

by Richard on January 4, 2008

I seem to have found a usable signal, so here goes…

We had a very useful conversation this afternoon with Dave Webster, who is in charge of electronic communication for the Methodist Church, and his colleague Toby Scott, who looks after Media Relations and was with us through a combination of a speakerphone and a Campfire chatroom. We talked about what it means to be a ‘Methodist blogger’, and whether that is different from ‘a Methodist who blogs’. We shared some thoughts about the way that our headquarters uses the web and a number of positive suggestions were made. We also talked about the way the lives of bloggers could be made a bit easier, and I’m sure that some of these will be taken up.

Later we talked about some of our experiences of conflict arising out of our blogging and had a very encouraging time of sharing.

It hasn’t all been serious. Other topics of conversation have included such varied subjects as erotic imagery in ‘Song of Songs’ and kangaroo farts. I kid you not.

I’m mindful that this signal could drop out on me at any moment. So I’ll stop now. I may post sopme pics in a few moments…

That’ll be either some allegorical exegesis or some pervy exegetes to find erotic imagery in kangaroo farts.

We go in for both pervy and allegorical exegesis in Methodism, Kim!

Strangely, I can’t find any record of John Wesley writing anything about kangaroo farts, but I believe his brother Charles used the phrase ‘antipodean emanations’ in one of his hymns. :)
