Thousands of council workers are on strike across the UK today and tomorrow, forcing the closure of many of our schools. All but one that I know in Swansea is shut. I’ve got every sympathy for the strikers: the union represents many of the lowest paid whose work is routinely undervalued and unappreciated. My sympathy is tempered a tad by the knowledge that about half the children in our school* are about to descend on my house in exchange for another parent taking my kids tomorrow.
Pray for me.
* Of course, I exaggerate for effect
