Recently, I was given the chance to join a Methodist church. I was asked too many personal questions and not given the chance to ask questions. Polity, who knew the poor little Methodist church was actually the CMC. This hierarchical system is fed by what? Where is the Methodist equivalent of Rome?

On one visit I saw “Dividend” checks. I don’t know and really don’t care to know what that may be.

My grandfather and greatfather, both very evil people were Methodists. My grandfather told of riches gone and a charter that was stolen, and the Methodist church was part of that too.

Who knows what the Methodist spin is all about. Eventually, it all comes out, the truth. If you could help me out with some answers, I would be very happy. We both speak English and our theology is all that is different. In heaven, many people will be surprised when there neighbor is another religion. Theology I understand, secrecy, deception, are not tolerated.

Thank-You

I’m sorry you’ve had a bad experience at the Methodist Church. Try not to hold it against us.
There is no Methodist equivalent of Rome, nor do I know what dividend checks might be, at least in the context of a church. American friends might be able to help.
As for ‘Methodist spin’, I fear I don’t grasp what you’re asking. I’d be glad to try to help out with some answers. But I have to understand the questions first.

I agree wholeheartedly with Richard. Am in the American Church. The United Methodist Church. Was a third generation Methodist Minister.

Am sorry for your experience but evil people can also go to church and God does call us all to come to Him. The church is peopled with sinners, or else what is it for?

Don’t know anything about an equivalent to Rome and do not know what a dividend check would be as far as the church is concerned.

Am now lay leader of our church and have written a book you might enjoy.
Bob Ewbank’s book “John Wesley, Natural Man, and the ‘Isms’ has been published. The ‘Isms’ are Heathenism, Judaism, Deism, Roman Catholicism, Quakerism, and Mysticism. The questions being answered are: how do each of them differ from John Wesley’s idea of True Christianity, and what are the prospects for those holding these views being saved.

Written for the layperson as well as the scholar, there is a Study Guide in the back of the book to help those who want to use the book for individual as well as group study. The Study Guide has questions in the front, which are answered along with page numbers, later in the Guide.

Bishop Rueben P. Job of the United Methodist Church has written some kind words on the back cover.

To find the book go on the internet to:

1. http://www.wipfandstock.com (Wipf and Stock)
2. On “Advanced Search” found on the left of the page type in “Ewbank” and you will go directly to the book. If you type in “John Wesley” you will be sent to a Wesley page and the book is the third one down.
3. For your information, the book is $23.00 at bookstores, but at the web site it is only $18.40
