From a funeral homily by Kim Fabricius
“Who is it that can tell me who I am?” The ultimate answer to that question is to be found in the title of an old African-American spiritual: “Oh, nobody knows who I am / Till the judgement morning.” Which is why the prospect of judgement is so awesome – because our Creator, from whom no secrets are hidden, will look into our hearts; but also, ultimately, why the prospect of judgement is so comforting – because our Creator sees us in the company of our Redeemer, the Lord Jesus, who is our peace. Who are we? God knows! Who are we? The question, rather, is “Whose are we?” And the answer is: we are God’s, in Christ. God made us – and God will re-make us. “Thus it is with the resurrection of the dead,” wrote St. Paul: “What is sown is perishable, what is raised is imperishable… It is sown in weakness, it is raised in power” (I Cor. 15:42-43).

I agree it is a matter of “Whose are we?” Some are in God and others are not. It is by Faith that we are God’s and it is by a lack of Faith that we are not. “Without Faith it is impossible to please God.” God made and God will remake us to those who by Faith have received the Good News by Faith in His Son.
Great homily to those who are Believer’s and a great holily to unbelievers who by Spirit drawing at the reading of the homily can enter into the promises of the homily as well. That is what makes theprospects of the judgement awesome. That we even have the free gift of God’s Grace made available in the first place. Not that everybody will enter into this Grace with some who happen to not have Faith in Christ.

“He that has the Son has life. He that has not the Son has not life.” Not everybody has the Son for it is by Faith that one “has the Son” and thus has “life”.

Kim, I ought to give you a list my dad wrote called the “ABC’s of Who We are in Christ”. It covers all 26 letters with Scripture reference and the quotation of the Scripture for each letter. It also gives every example in Scripture of the particular letters within the context of “who we are in Christ” aka (capitalization for underststanding not yelling) “ACCEPETED in the beloved”, “I’m SEATED in the heavenly places by Christ Jesus.”, etc. As we all know “Who we are’ is based by Faith.

dh, I wonder whether you’d be prepared to post the list here? It sounds really interesting…

Beth, I’m glad you liked the list concept from my Dad. I failed to mention a funny thing of how Dad accounted for the letter “X”. He happened to use the example I gave for “ACCEPTED” as the letter “X” using the proximity in pronunciation of “X” and the suffix “ACC”. Is that humorous and rather creative being that there is no word in Scripture within the context of “Who we are in Christ” to account for?
Beth, this “booklet” my Dad wrote is an all inclusive extensive list. It is booklet I have told my Dad many times he needs to publish. If Richard doesn’t mind the length it might be good for me to give one example for each letter as opposed to what my Dad did which is every example in Scripture stating who we are categorized by the first letter. I guess I could give 26 Scriptures referencing the 26 letters. That way the list would not take up any more space than any of us typically respond to on his sight. What do you think, Beth? What do you think Richard?

Sounds good to me, but of course it’s up to Richard!
Or perhaps instead (if you have time for a project) you could think about publishing it on the internet - set up a website with links to each letter of the alphabet, and list the words and discussions. I bet lots of people would visit.

Richard, give me some time. This piece my dad wrote is rather old yet it is interesting that no one has published anything like this. Beth and Richard, your ideas are great. I’m internet and IT illiterate. So for me to have a website for it is well over my head. I will try to give an example from the ABC article for each letter. Again I will need time maybe a couple of weeks. You mark my word it will be done.
I starting to think maybe instead of trying to market the article in bookstores for a profit I should (after speaking with the writer) put it in the public domain?
If the goal of our Christian Faith is “from Faith to Faith” or for others who don’t have Faith to have Faith then maybe the focus should be those things 100% with the “ABC article”?
“The Kingdom of God is not food and drink but righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.”
