“Easter” by George Herbert

by Kim on April 12, 2009

I got me flowers to straw Thy way,
I got me boughs off many a tree;
But Thou was up by break of day,
And brought’st Thy sweets along with Thee.

The sunne arising in the East,
Though he gave light, and th’ East perfume,
If they should offer to contest
With Thy arising, they presume.

Can there be any day but this,
Though many sunnes to shine endeavour?
We count three hundred, but we misse:
There is but one, and that one ever.

You were up early this morning Kim!

Happy Easter! Were you on the beach?

Yup, on the beach. There was a beautiful new gibbous setting even as the sun began to rise over Swansea Bay. Breathtaking! I thought of you, mate - and am glad to see that you took part in sunrise worship too. The peace of the risen Christ be with you and yours!

But my biggest personal joy of the day was to look out during the first hymn at church - your hymn of the day! - and see Angie in the congregation. She had a quadruple bypass only a little over a week ago; it’s amazing that she was able to come home so quickly - but to make it to the service … She called Katie (she comes for the cream eggs I give away!), who was on her way to Bethel; Katie collected her on the way - and there they were!

Happy Easter, everyone!
