Methodist Church website

Is it just me, or has the Methodist Church website turned up its toes?

Nobody is going to be pleased the site is down — are they?

It’s working for me at the moment. Maybe it just saw you coming? :D

It works for me - after a fashion! At this time in any other year there would have been a quick link to the forthcoming Conference page, instead of having to go via the A to Z list and clicking on C. It almost looks as though the host districts have not formulated this year’s Conference website yet, when it is actually very up-to-date.

Hi Richard - the site is up, running and even accessible from here in deepest Lincolnshire; whether it is useable is another question entirely. Lets just say that the fact that our national website is as impenetrable to many as the Greek New Testament still is to me is an ‘elephant in the room’ truth which will, I am sure, be addressed in due course by the excellent new team in MCH.

You mean, it’s just me? How thrilling!

This is the error that I keep seeing
methodist website error

(Just in case anyone at Church House happens to be reading)

Yes, It seems to be just you! What have you been up to to cause you to be excommunicated?

Hi all

Yes it’s the Methodist Church webeditor here - plese don’t all throw rotten fruit at the same time…

There was a glitch yesterday that meant that a few people got accidentally ‘timed out’ of the website but is fixed now.

A new much improved search engine is on its way - hopefully next couple of weeks, and refreshed layout of homepage will make things easier to find everything - there is a lot of material on the site now running to over three thousand pages.

The Methodist Conference website will have a link from the homepage today.

Please let me know if you find particular things hard to find, and we can do something about it. Feedback is extremely helpful.

Just to be mischievous: I see that the Methodist Church is on board the ecclesial bandwagon with four repetitions of the word “open” in its verbal logo: “Open to God, open to the world, open to life, open to you”. (I guess the focus groups, try as they might, couldn’t come up with a catchy jingle with “inclusive” in it.) As the word “open” actually has a Germanic root which means “up”, here is a proposal for Church House: how about “Up God, up the world, up life - and up yours!”? No? Then pass it on to the BNP.

I like that kim - it’s a very positive slogan

Up God

Up the World

Up Life - all rather affirmative

Up Yours might need a wee bit more work ;)

this is a test comment as after commenting the other day on this post I could not do so for two days and emailed Richard to tell him.
This comment is in response to his email - hope it works

Looks like you were the victim of a temporary glitch, FP.
