Big Apple gets bitten

by Richard on August 6, 2009

Sad news from Swansea. A young man has crashed his car into the “Big Apple” kiosk in Mumbles, severely damaging this quirky little structure.

It was built in 1929 as a promotion for an apple juice drink. Although it was only intended to be a temporary building, the Apple has been a much-loved feature ever since.

Welcome to Gower has pictures of the damage, and has started a petition for its restoration.

Here is the sute from the city of my Alma Mater Kansas State University

Let the puns continue:

big apple vs. Big Apple (NY)
Manhattan, NY vs Manhattan, KS
little apple vs little Apple (NY) vs Little Apple (c) Kansas (Manhattan, KS)
:)

I’m sure with all of the tornados in the Little Apple (C) (Manhattan, Kansas) {midwestern state of the US} that there is some headline that says “Tornados take a bite out of the Little Apple (c).” :)

Sorry to hear that people were hurt. Sometimes humor can be the best medicine. I did not mean to be insensitve but in the midwest we had been hit with some pretty bad tornados in Greenburg, Kansas USA. A whole town was destroyed but it looks like they are a town that is surviving in the midst of terrible tragedy.

honestly if ever there was a reason for not letting young people to drive this is a good one. Who wants to bet that he was speeding up the wiggly road that leads up to The Apple…
