Todd Bentley update

by Richard on October 23, 2009

Bene Diction has the latest on Todd Bentley’s restoration. Be warned that you should only watch the video if you have a strong stomach: you’ll be hard-pressed to find anything more sickeningly self-serving. My guess is that it won’t be long before Mr Bentley returns to our screens.

Your screen, maybe.

I don’t want to waste my time with false prophets; that last bit pushed him into “away from me, you evil doers”" territory, as I noted in the comments on Bene’s post.

I think the emphasis on Bentleys immorality amongst most of his objectors instead of his false spiritual experiences may have been a mistake. If he now gets a counterfeit anointing come upon him which he will believe id the Holy Spirit then most of his followers will think the same. It will appear to them as if God has restorted him and his ministry and such people will then overlook his immorality in 2008 onwards. Would it not be better to analysise his spirituality and encourage others to test this for themselves and point to his immorality as a secondary issue ppointing to it as bad fruit and further evidence of his false hood. I have tried to do this in thre following article which i dont have room for here, http://www.wordconnect.org/page_article8.php if anyone is interested in giving feedback.

I think you’re all a bunch of morons!
Just because someone does something wrong, it doesn’t make them a false prophet!
When you all float of clouds and are as holy as Jesus himself then you can judge him all you like but as long as the body of christ keeps cutting off anything that certain idiots deem ‘unholy’ then the body as a whole is never going to function properly!
If you listen to some of his latest sermons you can hear about the good things God’s been doing through him, Satan doesn’t do good things….God does!!!
and besides, Bill Johnson, and various other figures who the whole world respects as well founded christians, supports him…if he can’t discern the holy spirit from the devil then none of you small minded individuals have a hope!!

No, it doesn’t.
It would be the nonsense and charlatanry that does that.

Utter rubbish. Perhaps instead of going off half-cocked and calling us small-minded morons, you should actually take a few minutes to read what the Bible says about false prophets - in particular Paul’s comments in 2 Cor.11:13-15. Even Satan can appear as an angel of light - good things can be the seduction offered by the Father of Lies to draw people into false prophecy and false teaching.

Bentley is not fit to continue in ministry, let alone in a leadership position. That is not all his fault: it seems to me that he has not had adequate training, support or supervision to enable him to carry the responsibility of leadership, and that has allowed his weaknesses to become problems. Until those weaknesses are addressed, and adequate and sound support structures put in place which he is willing to use, allowing him to go back into leadership and ministry would have the potential for immense damage to himself and those who follow him. And that is where Satan rubs his hands with glee, at he emasculation of something which really could have been used to the glory of God.
