X Factor in reverse

by Richard on December 15, 2009

Noting that a third of Britons are reckoned to have watched Saturday’s X Factor final, Cybervicar offers a contrast with the story of Mary

For Mary it was never about what she could get out of being centre stage. The whole experience was about what God was doing in turning the world upside down …

What a contrast to the X Factor culture which encourages us to queue up in order to be idolised. Here is a teenage girl stepping forward, volunteering to be the topic of gossip and backbiting in order that God’s new hope can be revealed to a needy world.

Preachers — you’ve been given a great start if Sunday’s sermon isn’t done yet.

Simon Cowell already has a spot in my Christmas sermon. (And so does Sir Alan Sugar.)
