Even as Christmas is celebrated a terrible tragedy strikes the world as thousands die in south east asia from the effects of an undersea earthquake. The BBC is reporting 6000 dead. 2 hours ago the figure was 4000. It’s hard to avoid bringing to mind the words of this morning’s lectionary
“A voice was heard in Ramah,
wailing and loud lamentation,
Rachel weeping for her children;
she refused to be consoled,
because they were no more.”
I pray that we don’t turn our backs on those weeping tonight.
