My friend Sarah shares an account of her wedding day. I was there!

And a fine job you did Richard. I hope you’ll appreciate my tact in not mentioning you dropping the ring. Oh bother.

That service book had a highly polished surface!

I can’t tell you how relieved I was that Hinde St doesn’t have vents in the floor!

I was doing a wedding once where the ring nearly got away - the best man fumbled it, it landed on the top of a long broad communion rail, and began rolling; it would have gone the length of the rail, but someone swatted it, and passed me the ‘dead’ ring between finger and thumb. It really was a very funny moment.

Heating vents in the floor should always be kept a very long way from anywhere that the exchange of rings might conceivably take place - architects and designers should have been taught that bit first!
