Well, I haven’t exactly told her that I’m using it again. I did ask her last time, after all! But it’s true — I’m a constant source of embarrassment. Isn’t that in a dad’s job description?

Those were the best scones I’ve ever had — but sadly, not here at home. A small and rather splendid cafe in Northern Ireland provided them.
